Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 2, 2026 Version: 2026-08-02
This Privacy Policy explains how Black Dog Trading Cards ("BinderTrax", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the BinderTrax mobile application and related services (the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: your email address and password. Passwords are never stored in plain text; they are hashed by our authentication provider.
- Inventory and collection data: the cards, quantities, conditions, locations, prices, wishlists, and notes you add.
- Images: photos you capture or select to scan or appraise cards.
- Support communications: messages you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: app version, device type, operating system, and basic diagnostic or crash information used to keep the app working.
Permissions
- Camera and photo library: used only to capture or select card images for scanning and appraisal. You control these permissions in your device settings.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- create and secure your account and authenticate you;
- provide core features (cataloging, scanning, pricing estimates, appraisal, inventory, and — if you connect them — marketplace integrations);
- process images to identify cards and read text (optical character recognition);
- process payments for paid features, where applicable;
- maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Service; and
- communicate with you about your account and important changes.
3. How Images Are Processed
When you scan or appraise a card, the image may be sent to our backend and to a third-party image/text-recognition provider to identify the card and assess condition. Appraisal analysis is designed to be ephemeral and is not retained as part of your inventory unless you choose to save the identified card. Where the Service states a step is "read-only" or "not saved," it does not persist that data to your account.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run the Service:
- Hosting and authentication provider: stores your account and inventory data on our behalf.
- Payment processor: handles payment details for paid features. We do not store full card numbers.
- Image/text recognition provider: processes card images you submit for scanning.
- Marketplace integration (e.g., eBay): only if you choose to connect an account, and only the data needed to create and manage your listings.
- Pricing data providers: we retrieve market-price data from third parties; this generally does not require sharing your personal information.
- Legal and safety: when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
5. Data Retention
We keep your account and inventory data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
6. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards — including transport encryption, hashed passwords, and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. You can also delete your account from within the app. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, which may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may link to or integrate with third-party sites and services that have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for those practices, and we encourage you to review their policies.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the version and effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
